The Ultimate Film Archive is a hand-picked chronology of films from each decade (starting with the 1940s), all of which I highly recommend you seeking out. Not an exhaustive list but it’s a start as further films are added.
How many of these have you seen? Either leave a comment or email me at classicfilmshow@gmail.com.
Have I missed any out? Any further suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
It starts…
1940s
1940 The Grapes Of Wrath (USA, John Ford)
1940 Fantasia (USA, Walt Disney Productions)
1940 The Great Dictator (USA, Charlie Chaplin) … See all here…

I was actually surprised at how many of those films from the 1940s I have seen. I’ve missed most of the Michael Powell, Emeric Pressburger films with the exception of Black Narcissus and The Red Shoes, of course. I’ve heard great Things about I Know Where I’m Going, but I’ve never had the opportunity to see that one. Of all the films you listed that would be the one I would most like to see.

One of my very favourite films is The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp, definitely one to catch. Were there any notable films missing from the list that you’d feel should be there?
Please let me know what you think about I Know Where I’m Going…
